משרד הפנים האיטלקי, בתשובה לשאילתא של הקונסוליה הישראלית, מאשר בפירוט רב שמחזיקי רישיון ישראלי (וכל רישיון אחר לפי אמנת וינה 1968) יכולים לנהוג באיטליה ללא צורך ברישיון נהיגה בינלאומי. הנושא אושר מחדש גם בחודש יולי 2022 מול משטרת מילאנו ויש לנו אישור כתוב באיטלקית על כך.

רישיון ישראלי תקף
משרד התחבורה הישראלי אישר בעבר ברשימה רשמית כי רישיון הנהיגה הישראלי תקף באיטליה. בנוסף במרץ 2023 פרסם משרד התחבורה כי נחתם הסכם המאפשר לישראלים לנהוג באיטליה עם הרישיון הישראלי. למיטב הבנתנו יש טעות בפרסום הדוברות - לאחר קריאת המקור להסכם בין המדינות אנו מאמינים כי אין בו התייחסות להכרה ברישיון הישראלי לצורך נהיגה אלא רק לאפשרות להמיר אותו באיטליה ברשיון נהיגה איטלקי (למשל כשישראלים עוברים לגור באיטליה לתקופה ממושכת).

Hertz China/ Japan/ Korea will issue this form on Hertz notepaper and will incorporate the Hertz China/ Japan/ Korea Corporate seal. A scanned copy of the original licence will appear on the Certification form. The Certification form is valid until the expiry date of the Driver's Licence. Both the Certification and the original licence (with an International Driving Permit strongly recommended by Police authorities in Europe) MUST be produced at the time of rental.
If you hold a Driver's Licence issued in Vietnam, you need to present the original licence together with an authorised translation issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport. If both documents are presented at time of rental these licences are acceptable worldwide.

Important documents
Upon delivery of the vehicle, the renter and driver must present a valid driving licence entitling them to drive the vehicle in question together with a valid identity card or passport. Photocopies, digital licenses, Learner's Permits, and driver's licenses with driving restrictions will not be accepted.
Valid driving licenses issued by member states of the European Union and the European Economic Area are equivalent to the corresponding Italian driving licenses.
Valid driving licenses from countries who are not EU member states nor party to the European Economic Area are accepted if the holders have not been resident in Italy for more than one year and, together with the licence, have an international permit or an official Italian translation of the license. Foreign national driver's licences that conform with the provisions of Annex 6 to the Convention on Road Traffic dated 8 November 1968 are however accepted without international permit or official Italian translation of the licence. Any certificates of qualification or titles to drive certain vehicles, prescribed by the issuing state, must be presented for the purpose of renting such vehicles.
Valid British driving licences issued by the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Northern Ireland, and Gibraltar before 01.01.2021 are accepted until 31.12.2022.
In the case that the person has been a resident in Italy for more than one year, an Italian driving licence must be presented.
In addition, renters with Italian residence must indicate their tax code, in case of rental as a private individual, or the VAT number of the company, in case of rental for business reasons.
Please note that a driver's license conforming to the European model or issued in paper format must be presented. Other formats (including but not limited to digital driver's licenses or scanned copies or photocopies of digital driver's licenses) will not be accepted.
Age restrictions
Certain regulations apply related to minimum age and possession of driver's license which can be found during the booking process depending on the booked vehicle. Basically, the minimum age for every driver is 18 years (having held the driving license for at least 1 year). A deviation from the minimum age is possible depending on the vehicle.
A young driver surcharge applies for drivers under 25 years.

All drivers must have been in possession of a full EU-valid driving
license for a minimum of one year. The minimum age of the driver is
19. For drivers between the ages of 19 & 24 years, you can hire the
vehicle by including the additional supplement. If you are 75 or over,
then you will be required to select an additional supplement. This is an
obligatory supplement regardless of the type of insurance contracted.
Only the following are considered valid driving licenses in
Spain/Portugal/Greece/Italy:
• Those issued in accordance with current Spanish, Portuguese,
Greek & Italian legislation
• Those issued by member states of the European Union in
accordance with community regulations
• Those issued by other countries or those of an international

Who can rent?
Any physical person:
who is legally capable of entering into an agreement with the Hirer and is prepared to accept responsibility for the Vehicle
throughout the Rental Period;
·whose means of payment will be accepted by the local rental company of the country in which the rental starts, to pay for the
hire of the Vehicle, any eventual prorogation, and any associated costs;
In particular in Italy, means of payment accepted by the Hirer are:
Credit or Debit Card VISA o MasterCard.
Diners Club, American Express, Prepaid Cards, Revolving Cards, Postepay or cash are not accepted by Goldcar .
The owner of the credit or debit card used as of mean of payment shall be the same person who subscribe the rental
agreement .
·who provides valid identification documents accepted by the local rental company of the country in which the rental starts.

The client is not entitled to rent more than one vehicle at the same time.

The Customer and every authorised driver must have turned at least 19 on their last birthday and have a valid driving licence in an EU/EFTA Country, which enables them to drive the rented vehicle. The driving licence must have been issued for at least 12 months and be displayed, so that a copy can be taken. Customers who are resident in a non-EU foreign country must have the driving licence of their country of origin as well as a driving licence that is valid for international use, or one which is translated by an embassy or an equivalent authority, and legible in Latin characters. For people under 25 years of age and people over 75 years of age, access to rental is permitted with the application of a daily supplementary charge in relation to specific categories of vehicles identified by the Rental Company on the basis of age groups. This supplementary charge will be applied at the level specified in Noleggiare’s Fee Schedule.

Who can rent?
Any physical person:
who is legally capable of entering into an agreement with the Hirer and is prepared to accept responsibility for the Vehicle
throughout the Rental Period;
·whose means of payment will be accepted by the local rental company of the country in which the rental starts, to pay for the
hire of the Vehicle, any eventual prorogation, and any associated costs;
In particular in Italy, means of payment accepted by the Hirer are:
Credit or Debit Card VISA o MasterCard.
Diners Club, American Express, Prepaid Cards, Revolving Cards, Postepay or cash are not accepted by Goldcar .
The owner of the credit or debit card used as of mean of payment shall be the same person who subscribe the rental
agreement .
·who provides valid identification documents accepted by the local rental company of the country in which the rental starts.

The Hirer may request the Fiscal Code and/or VAT Number for the purpose of issuing the electronic invoice
All the documents must be valid at the date of the rental and readable. Documents written in non Latin letters must be
accompanied by a sworn translation.
The client is not entitled to rent more than one vehicle at the same time.

בתנאי ההשכרה כתוב: - the driving license must report the driver's photo and signature,
- to drive in Italy, all driving licenses issued by countries member of the European Community
(including those issued by: Great Britain, Switzerland, San Marino, Turkey and Algeria for which
an international driving permit is not required) are valid but the driver must be in possession of a
valid passport as well;
- as far as concerns all driving licenses issued by any country not member of the European
Community, the driver must be in possession (together with the driving license, of course) of a
proper International Driving Permission whose validity is of 1 year so it needs to be in regular course
of validity;
- all driving licenses reporting non-latin characters (e.g. arabian, chinese, japanese, cyrillic and so
on) are not accepted unless they have been translated by the Embassy or Consulate in latin
characters;
